Jason Moon

Jason Moon: Activist

After his return from the Iraq War in 2004, Jason grew increasingly frustrated with the general lack of knowledge and acceptance of the actual events of the war by most of the civilian population. Disturbed by this realization, he began to give talks about what he had seen, heard, and experienced while in Iraq as he struggled with the symptoms of PTSD.

In 2006, Jason helped form the Milwaukee Chapter of Iraq Veterans Against the War and worked with this group until 2008. From 2008 until present Jason has worked both individually and with numerous veteran-related groups, from all political viewpoints, in areas of advocacy and healing.

Warrior Songs

In March 2012, Warrior Songs, Inc. was founded as a vehicle to assist Jason in his mission to use music to heal veterans and raise awareness of veterans issues all over the country. To learn more, please visit www.warriorsongs.org.

Soldiers Heart

Soldier's Heart leads veterans on retreats all over the U.S. and in Vietnam with Dr. Ed Tick, author of War and The Soul, and his wife Dr. Kate Dahlstedt. Jason was fortunate enough to attend a retreat in the autumn 2008 and has continued to work with Soldiers Heart by both fund-raising and bringing other veterans to several retreats. The Homeless Veterans Initiative

From 2008 to 2011, Jason served on the board of directors of the Homeless Veterans Initiative in the capacities of fundraising and outreach. Though he is no longer a member of the board of directors, Jason still works with the Initiative as the need arises.

The Homeless Veterans Initiative actively seeks out homeless veterans in the greater Milwaukee area, running the only veteran food pantry in Milwaukee as well as transitional housing units and several other outreach programs.
