Jason Moon has a new CD
"Trying to Find My Way Home"

What is it?
Recently I was asked to be part of a film project focusing on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans after they have returned from their tours. I participated in the film, a 94 minute documentary, "On The Bridge" and played music for the film. Four of my songs figure prominently in the film. The production company, Zadig Productions, liked the music so much, they decided to take my song, "Trying to Find My Way Home", and professionally record it as an instrumental piece to be played for the final credit role. While I was recording this song at SurroundInSound Studio's in Milwaukee, I was also able to record studio versions of all four of the songs which are featured in the film. John and Susan Nicholson of the Milwaukee band Frog Water added violin, viola, banjo, mandolin, lead guitar, slide guitar, and backing vocals.  The entire CD is available digitally at the store on my web page. It is available physically via my store now. It is also available on iTunes, Napster, Amazon, Amazon MP3, CD Baby, and just about every major online retailor.

"On The Bridge", was scheduled to air on the European TV station ARTE-TV in January of 2011. It is to air as part of a documentary series which airs quarterly.  After the production company viewed the final draft, which as of today is still untitled, they decided to push the air date off until September of 2011 and will air for about 2,000,000 viewers. Why did they decide to push the air date?

Because they've submitted the film to several Film Festival and feel the film has a tremendous shot at winning a medal. The film cannot win a medal if it has been publically aired by a major broadcast network, hence the delay. They've entered the film in over 40 international and national film festivals. So my music is in a film which has been submitted to several Film Festival and will air in Europe next September to a viewership of between 500,000 to 4,000,000 viewers. I am ecstatic. I have finished another 8 songs which, combined with the 4 songs already recorded, chronicle a journey from pre-deployment through homecoming, and on to a 5 year struggle with PTSD. It even ends with an image of hope. In all its 14 tracks that include John Nicholson on banjo, mandolin, lead guitar, and slide guitar. Susan Nicholson on violin, viola, and backing vocals. Lil Rev' on harmonica. Tom Haines on drums. And Jonathon Leubner on bass Guitar. Progress Media of Oshkosh, WI created the graphic design.

Can't stop playing "Alone with Me Tonight". Haunting. Melody, music, voices express the lyrics exquisitely. Takes me back to days of loneliness, not fitting in, and desperation. All songs on CD winners....great job. Truly inspired.

Jason, although I has purchased your cd after meeting you in Dryhootch  a while ago, I just started listening to it when I had some quiet moments to REALLY LISTEN.  I must say that it struck some deep chords with me, and there were some painful messages.  Despite this, it is giving me some inspiration to continue on my healing journey.  Thank you for your music.  Betsy Beckner-Saunders  Veteran, US Navy and US Army

Jason,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU for being who you are and sharing the deep, dark, raw and then hopeful and humorous feelings you have had during and since your deployment. Putting words and music to feelings that many can't express is what deeply helps make healing possible.Describing in detail what you went through in combat and how it changed you, even your brain physically and chemically, makes PTSD so much easier to understand...my words alone can not describe how you helped me and helped me know that I wasn't alone in my feelings of separation, anxiety and depression. I am so blessed by your presence in the world. YOU ARE THE CATALYST TO THE HEALING OF SO MANY... YOUR MUSIC strikes the chords of ones very being.
Elizabeth.

Dear Jason,
Just heard your concert last night at Many Ways of Peace in Eagle River and wanted to let you know what a great inspiration it was for me. I'm a Chicago native who lived through the Vietnam era and subsequently wrote a dissertation on pacifism. Your struggles and your message and your songs really brought home what needs to be heard and done in this country at the moment, especially regarding the neglect shown to veterans and the tragedies they deal with. Your broader work and message of peace are also inspiring and needed - you're in a great position to do this. Keep it up - Ive signed up for updates on your music and hope to stay in touch and maybe meet you one day - no time last night!
Warm regards,
Ted

Get Jason's album and distribute it far and wide…. Jason's disc of songs as a veteran about the veteran journey to war and back is one of the most profound testaments I've ever encountered on the full cost of war.  This album of songs itself is a textbook on PTSD.  It covers all the wounds; substance abuse and alcohol suicidal feelings and just being lost and alone and saying good-by to your beloved son who you may never see again the night before you leave for war; and I could go on and on..

It is my humble honor to introduce you to my friend Jason, who has been so central to the music scene in Oshkosh. When he was a student at UW Oshkosh, he helped ignite a close-knit and vibrant open mic community in downtown Oshkosh that is still just as alive today (I'll let him decide if he wants you all to know how long that has been going on).

Tonight he will be talking about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Through his words and music, he is able to convey the experience of veterans that so many of us never have the opportunity to hear. He bravely preaches the painful truths of military service in a manner that is accessible to even the most blissfully ignorant of civilians (I'm referring to myself, BEFORE I witnessed Jason's presentation). I hope that you are able to learn as much from him tonight as I did when I last saw him play. Please give your warmest welcome to Jason Moon.
Mary Manchester (Introduction for UWO performance)

I am a mental health provider who works primarily with
veterans who live with the aftermath of war.  Many struggle to make sense
of their experiences and are trying to figure out how to somehow fit into
themselves and civilian society again.

I am always looking for ways to have a conversation with veterans about
what is happening to them in a manner that is both close to their
experience and non-clinical so that they can really hear and absorb the
information. I think your CD tells a story that is both very
recognizable and hopeful. It is great to have such beautiful music and
lyrics available to listen to with veterans. I wish I could give each of
them a copy of your CD to take home.

All I can say is "amazing music brother!” Love the instruments, vocals and message. Have not been in the military but your message is something we can all relate to at times in our lives. Keep it going and take care

There are two combat zones - the hell of war and the lost and wandering condition of coming home with war wounds nobody understands.  Jason Moon is a combat veteran with a huge heart, deep soul, great musical talent, and unending depths of devotion to our veterans.  First down range and now at home, Jason has been a balladeer of the veteran experience.  He writes and sings with depth, sincerity, eloquence, spirit and love of veterans' struggles.  Listen to this album and through Jason's songs understand the portrait of our wounded warriors.  Weep and celebrate with Jason and our vets.  These songs are acts of love, courage, spirit and truth that help bring healing and unity to us all.

I like the way it flows, the phases and the phrases, the rhythm, the tone, the melodies, everything. It's not a series of songs, it's a symphony, every song respond to the other with so many echoes, like a choir that never ends, it will always be a 14 + n songs CD. Olivier Morel (Director of “On The Bridge”)

Just listened to the new stuff on your website. Jesus. I guess this is what happens when a man's depth and passion finally gets tempered by maturity and grace. I hope I find those things someday soon. I'm really, really proud of you. Paul (Musician)
